Come one and all to celebrate Summer, Beltane, and the Beltane Fires Swap!

Details of Swap:

Make 2 crafted Beltane items that are pagan, wiccan, or witchcraft related or something just plain great that your partner can appreciate and enjoy.  One item must be  a small candle or fire related such as a decorated candle holder, match box, or decorated candle. Any candle/bonfire related item will count. The other item is a small free choice, whatever pleases your partner!

Suggestions would include altar or spellcasting items such as bowls, oil blends, etc. - as well as altar cloths, statues, jewellery, decorations, stationary, or more - look at previous galleries of similar swaps for ideas if you need them. Talk to your partners for suggestions and ideas.

Size requirements for this swap are 1 small candle/fire item and 1 free choice small item.

About Beltane:

Beltane, or May Day occurs on May 1. It is a Sabbat celebrating the union of the Lord and Lady and fertility, summer and life. It is often marked by bonfires and dancing around a may pole. It is often considered the opposite side of the coin of Samhain, celebrating life and the richness of life rather than death. Often cattle were driven between fires to purify and bless them for the year.

I agree, ffrogg, the picture HG chose for this swap is perfect! It got an audible "ahhhh!" from me when it came up! Very inspiration in so many ways.

I'm always stalking these swaps.... and while I don't think I can join this one, I will keep stalking, and maybe hopefully join the next one.
(also, I love that picture, and wish to recreate it in my yard....)

That picture is beautiful and I too let out an audible oooooo when it loaded! I love the idea of the hanging lanterns, but of course forgot to mention that in my questionnaire Sad

I am loving the whole lantern idea, especially since we eat alot of pasta in our house and I save all the jars for re-purposing! So here are some really neat ideas for making them at home on the cheap!

The picture opening is from Martha Stewart (of course!) and here is another simpler idea that might be good on an altar
http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/jelly-jar-lanterns

This one is a little more technical, but for long term use I think is great
http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2010/06/flashback_jam_jar_lanterns.html

This is what I was actually thinking when I first starting looking for ideas
http://lifehacker.com/#!5343002/turn-mason-jars-into-garden-lanterns

And this one is also super pretty, not sure I would want to use it outside because I would probably break it!  But inside it would be great on an altar or just on a table too
