This is a bag I completed at a super girlfriends sewing day in December.  The big tote bag is from a pattern called "Chubby Charmer" by Quilts Illustrated and it is a big bag (two charmpacks and 1 1/2 yards of lining fabric).  My work stuff consists of files and this bag is perfect for carrying letter-sized files..problem was, carrying this behemoth and a purse was too much.  So, at a sewing group, a couple of weekends ago, we had the opportunity to make the smaller bag, actually called a "basket" but it it is really more like a small clutch or purse-without-handles.  Whatever you want to call it - it was profoundly easy from a simple pattern generally two pieces of fabric (15" X 24") with some fusible pellon in between, sewn up the sides and boxed bottom, a 5" band sewn across the front for accent. A little flower on the front (hand drawn, cut and stuck on with some more pellon fusible) and some velcro to close, and voila! a little insert to put the necessaries so I don't have to carry a purse when I use my big fabulous bag.  The material group I love love love is Maison de Garance by Moda.

Enjoy
