Hello!
This is a nautiloid that I knitted from various colors of yarn from my stash. I got the idea from a pattern in knitty:http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATTnautie.html. I wanted the shell and stripes on my nautiloid to look different from the shell in that pattern, so I used a shell pattern from a book I own. I also knitted my nautiloid's eyes, instead of using felt.

Nautiloids were the first cephalopods to swim in the ocean, and their shells came in a variety of shapes. They are the great great great great great granddaddies of squids and octopuses. But this little guy doesn't look half his age, does he? Wink

This is most wonderful!  I love your Nautiloid - I'm gonna call him Nauti for short.  Your colors are beautiful - this is one of the neatest knit things I've seen.  Cheesy

You did a fantastic job with this. Your striped version is really really fun!

Did you get the shell pattern from the book Amigurumi Knits by chance Smiley?
