Class Description: Have you long oggled the beautiful lampwork beads and charms on those pricey Pandora bracelets? Oggle no more! This class will teach you the fine points of lampworking to make your own quality pieces, and then assemble your own personalized Pandora bracelet. There will be a strict 30 minute time limit on learning the equipment and creating your beads. 20 beads will be created by you during this time, 10 of which will go into the Givers and Needers swap, 10 for your bracelet.
Students will be responsible for bringing their own safety goggles and elbow length safety gloves for working with the blow torch. Students will also need to bring a Pandora cable bracelet with clasp and various other slide pendants or gold and sterling spacer beads to complete their look. Those that show up unprepared with these supplies will have to don the Cone of Shame while making their lampwork beads.
Marketing Campaign: Once your beads are completed and your bracelets are assembled, you will fan out across the compound and ‘market’ your recent creations to fellow Craftsterlanders to purchase. You will have 2 hours to
spam market to the residents. Any bracelets not sold during the marketing campaign will be donated to the Craftsterland gift shop for purchase by tourists visiting the compound. The marketing blitz will be in 2 parts:
Internet-based: Where you will create a website to post your items on. Website design and hosting will be done via email communication to our designer in Thailand. He will create the sites in Thai, then use Babblefish to convert the text back to broken English for a truly authentic feel.
Face-to-face advertising: Which will consist of you walking up to any and all persons on site at the compound and commenting on what they are crafting, give them a one sentence response about how your Pandora bracelet would complement it, and stuffing a flier in their hand or project bag/basket advertising your bracelet and the website to buy it on. You must limit your communications to ONE sentence for this aggressive marketing tactic to work, if need be, stuff more than one flier to reinforce your point before leaving and moving on to the next
unsuspecting spam victim potential buyer.
Cost: $100 per person, plus an additional $100 for website design and copy services for your fliers (you will receive 10,000 fliers).
What to Bring: • Safety goggles and elbow length gloves
• Pandora cable bracelet, slide pendants, and gold and silver spacer beads to complete your look (easily attainable on eBay from a Chinese seller, please allow for international shipping time and order well in advance of our class start date to be announced later)
• Comfortable tennis shoes (for wearing during the 3-part marketing campaign)
Fine Print: Craftsterland and TheSapphireMoon are not responsible for any bodily harm that may result from spamming marketing to fellow Craftsterlanders about your newly created products. Failure to wear proper foot attire or to bring safety equipment to class may cause permanent disfigurement in the form of debilitating blisters and 3rd degree burns. Failure to participate in the marketing blitz at the end of class will result in negative feedback, thereby barring you from enrolling in additional classes…we have GOT to sell, sell, sell to keep this compound humming along, people!
