Class: Cold Process Goat's Milk Soap

Teacher: MareMare

Location: Craftster Compound, Room 101

Class Size: 10 students, space is limited so sign up ASAP!

Class Description: Have you ever wanted to make amazing natural soap from scratch? Now here's your chance! We'll start by milking the Craftster Compound goats to get fresh goat milk! From there we'll combine the milk with organic vegetable oils, filtered spring water from the on-site spring, and lye to make soap. Each student will be able to mix and match their own colors, fragrances, and additives to make the soap of their dreams. **

Please submit a form in writing in triplicate no later than 3 weeks before class to be notified of available colors, fragrances, and additives. Or just show up the day of class and decide then on your soap options!

Cost: $85 per person for the class cost plus $50 per person for materials. At the end of class you will have a chance to buy some of the soap you made at $5 a pound

What to Bring:
  • Your beautiful self and a smile!
  • 5 gallons Olive Oil (pomace, pure, or extra virgin grade)
  • 3 Wooden soap molds, please buy your wood and construct mold ahead of time. Solid oak is the preferred material. The inside dimensions of the mold need to measure 20 inches long by 3.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches high. These measurements must be exact or your soap will be the wrong size.
**In just 24 short hours the soap will be ready to be unmolded and cut, and in another 30 days you can use it!

Don't forget to check out the soap labeling class!

Can I make this with a corn base instead of goat base? Around these parts, we see goats as friends and do not take advantage of their friendship by stealing their milk for silly routines like taking a bath.

Sorry, no substitutions. The Craftster goats are happy to share!

I'm not a big fan of animal teets, can someone milk my goat for me? I'd be happy to pay extra.

I'm not sure I'll be able to fit this class into my schedule... will non-students be able to buy the soap?

Yes of course, but the price will be higher and since students get first pick to buy you may not get the fragrance you are after.
