You guys must have seen this very important announcment today! We knew it was coming but we weren't sure when, but we have bee excitedly keeping a secret for MONTHS! Here is the announcement link--check it out as to how we are able to bring you these awesome classes today!
CLASS: How to Make a Basic, Classic SkirtTEACHER: alwaysinmyroom
LOCATION: in front of the patterned sheet on Barn #3--please watch your step! You might want to bring extra shoes!
CLASS SIZE: 10 students; 20 if you are willing to share your sewing machines
CLASS DESCRIPTION: You will learn to to make a basic skirt, with such details as a zipper, waistband, set-in pockets, hand-stitched hem, lining, buttonholes, pleats, fabric bias tape, and matching plaids or patterns. More experienced seamstresses can also include gores, topstitching with silk thread, and using horsehair interfacing. Mixing a variety of fabric, especially the use of sheers, is encouraged.

PREREQUISITE: No experience necessary. If you can make a lined coat or a princess seam fitted sheath, you can make this skirt! Basic sewing skills and pattern drafting skills are necessary and to qualify, please make and wear a reversible, ruffled apron to class.
Moderators photojenn and superstitch will assess your qualifications for this class based on the cuteness of your aprons. Bonus points will be given for wearing matching shoes (especially if they are
my size 8 ).

COST: $95 per student plus supplies and fabric (see list below)
Any student not able to afford this amount can apply for a student loan from the Craftsterland loan

Craftsterland takes the following forms of payment: Amex Platinum, Discover Gold, Diners Club, and cash in small bills; please call in advance if you will be using foreign currency so we can calculate how much extra we need to charge for conversion
TIME: It should only take about 25-35 minutes to make your skirt. Those finishing early make take a potty break.
This includes a complimentary 5 minute photo shoot in front of the patterned sheet with a special guest who will allow you to select from three fashion poses.
If you do not wish to pose with your skirt, you can attend the class next door (for an additional $60): How to Make a Duct Tape Dress Form. The instructor has requested that you shave before attending this class...all over...
WHAT TO BRING:*4 yards of designer quality fabric (you really only need 2 yards, so 2 yards will be donated to the Givers/Needers Swap)
*Matching thread, plus black and white for
me good measure
*4 zippers, including a 26 inch invisible one (daring seamstresses can insert these upside down!)
*120 inch retractable tape measure in both inches and centimeters
*Calculator or the ability to calculate the radius of a circle using
my your waist measurement, divided by 2 if using a double fold, horizontally and vertically
*French curved ruler
Please do not bring seam rippers. They are not necessary and dangerous. Anyone caught with one will be expelled immediately.
