Hey there!

So since my swap partner in the Hoopla 4 swap has posted pictures of her project I figure it was safe to share now! Grin  I really liked this project because it forced me to see a story, which is something I don't usually do.  This one is about Alice in Steampunk land.  The Alice was found on Deviantart drawn by Karla-Chan http://karla-chan.deviantart.com/

close up

Extreme close up
Alice was stitched with no more than one or two strand of floss at a time, her eyes were done with one.  The Alice hoop itself took most of the time allotted for the swap.  The Air ship was much simpler using 3 strands at a time to get a "puffy" sort of look.

close up

The airship was one adapted from an urban threads pattern, I just added ears and hearts.   Grin

Thanks for looking!

This is so beautiful! I have so many questions, what fabric did you use? your satin stitch and fill in stitches are superb please teach me, I sued satin stitch for my last hoops and they bunch up, please tech me how not to make suck satin stitch... Cheesy Cheesy, your work is so amazing, this totally rocks! I hope you are my partner in the next hoopla round.

what fabric did you use? I used Kona Cotton that I Tea dyed after I stitched. Since having found kona cotton I rarely stitch on anything else!  I love the feel of it so much!  It's a little more expensive but I wait for half off coupons and then stock up.

Cheesy CheesyWithout seeing what you're doing I'm not sure what to tell you LOL!  I think it just takes practice and I tend to embroider with quilting sharps and not regular needles (they don't pull the fabric as much)
your work is so amazing, this totally rocks! I hope you are my partner in the next hoopla round.  Thanks, that would be fun!  Grin

I'm happy to say I am the proud owner of this amazing piece of embroidery!  I love it very very much.

I was wondering about the fabric, too.  The tea-dye almost gives it a linen look in person.  I may have to try using the quilting needles next time I try to satin stitch. And the Kona cotton.  I've never found a fabric I really enjoy stitching on.

Wow, that's a lot of work. Such great fill stitching, and I know it takes forever when you're working with minimal strands!

That is the neatest embroidery I've ever seen. I love the little details around her too, the card, the rose, the book, the teapot, the clock. Absolutely stunning!
