So, I finally decided to put my old shoeboxes to use and give this tutorial a whirl that I found when browsing the web the other day..

The completed project!

This is the shoebox after I decorated the inside (with all of my paper scraps, so this project is 100% recycled with nothing left over!)  My cat wanted to help, so he pressed down the glued papers on the inside   Tongue

The inside of the box.  You can see the sides of the rolls.  Some of the rolls were higher than the sides of the box, but I think it makes it look more abstract/artsy that way!

My next project is my boyfriend's phone box.  I got the inside and sides done...

Now, I'm debating on whether or not to just paint the top of the box or add some more rolls to it.

And here is the link to the tutorial.  http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-make-urban-outfitters-recycled-magazine-holder-376731/

I've found other tutorials for this project, but this was the simplest and funnest one I've found!

Thanks for looking!

I love using those magazines that get left lying around, this is a really good way.

It is an awesome way to use magazines.  And it really reinforces the boxes so they are pretty heavy duty.  I plan on trying out a few different types of boxes this week!

Hmm...they took the vid down...strange.  Here's another video from youtube...

This is what I did...

I cut the magazine pages to the width of the side of the box.  Make sure you roll them so the colors you want are at the end.  I didn't roll any that had writing or anything...just the ads with pictures.

I used a very thin paint brush (or a dowel or anything would work) and rolled the page along it.  Make sure its tight and straight.

I glued the piece at the end and made sure it stuck really well.

When you get a bunch together, hot glue them to the side of the box and voila!  Its done!

Great project! And who would ever think it was formerly just a shoebox?!
