I had several skeins of this chunky purple yarn left...Lion Brand Super Bulky 'Portland Wine'. I decided to just see how far it would take me. I started doing a granny square and just kept going until I ran out. It measures 30"x30", isn't big enough for much except to display as a piece of yarn art on the sofa.

You could always add another round... or cover the back of a chair with it... embroider on it... google granny squares... or neckwarmer... tons of options.
I like it, the color is great.

Wow...I love this project.  If you want to make it bigger, why not get a bunch of similarly sized yarn in various shades of purple and add to it like that?

It is really lovely the way it is.  I like the baby blanket idea too!  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Thanks for all your comments! When I came to end of my yarn supply I thought 'okay, at least it got to be this size'. I love the suggestions for making it larger!

Love the color! Looks great!

You can also turn it into a pillow by doing this; Bring the 4 corners to the center. You will have a smaller square. Find a pillow that needs covering about the same size as that square. Now open up the corners, insert the pillow and  fold the corners back to the center, You can now slip stitch an X  to close up the opening. You don't have to use the same yarn to stitch it. Different yarn adds interest!

Wow, Maria...thanks for the idea! As soon as I read this I took it in on my bed and folded the corners like you said. This will work perfect as a pillow cover and now I have bunches of ideas for smaller projects as well.
