someone I met through the farmer's market gave me a box of poodle hair and I tried to wash it and that didn't work and i tried to card it so i could wash it after i spun it but that didn't work either. the smell was horrible. i gagged every time i opened the bag. Will the smell ever come out of the yarn or will you have to smell like dog every time you wear a dog hair sweater? that's my question.

Well, I washed that yarn 3 times. I can't say for sure that it came out fully clean and free of dog smell.  But I'm sure if it gets wet it will still smell like dog.  But you can probably get a lot of the smell out washing it.
