Angler Fish LED Embroidery

My partner in the diptych round of the Hoopla swap likes sea creatures so I knew just what to make for her . My favorite deep sea critter... an angler fish!

I used wool felt, embroidery floss, batik fabric and an LED light to make this project.







Here it is all lit up. It's hard to see here but I used glow-in-the-dark thread for the white bits.


And here is a picture of the back where you can see the switch for the light. It really was easier than I thought it would be to put this together. I did have plenty of help from Mr. Lime and some nice gentlemen at the model train store .

I pushed the light through felt on the outside and cardboard on the backside to stabalize it. A wire is attached to the positive leg of the light and then that gets attached to the positive side of a battery (looks like a big watch battery). The other leg (the shorter one) also gets a wire attached and that goes to the switch and then to the battery. And that's pretty much it! All in very technical terms .

OOOH! What fun! The subject/arrangement gave me a little thrill of enjoyment, and when I got past that, I could see the amazing dimensional work and stitchery. Wow!

I love the way the hoops are turning into diptychs and triptychs!

ETA: I didn't see it was you, LimeRiot, until after I posted that. It doesn't take away anything from the awesomeness of it all, but I just said to myself, "Well, of course!" You rock!
