Care Bear Dress

I got this fabric in a swap ages ago and couldn't decide how to use it! I was inspired by N30Nb100d's post from a while back and finally got around to making my own Care Bear Dress.

So I didn't go full Care Bear, just the bodice. The tulle is attached to the lining at the bottom giving it a tiny bit of fullness.

The lining is separate for the bodice and skirt part.

And now some lovely, blurry cell phone pics of me wearing it! 

Hanging around in the grocery store parking lot, like I'm 17 and not actually 27!

This was so much fun to make and wear. I think I will try and find more novelty fabric like this. The white parts actually glow in the dark, if I can find out a good way photograph it I'll add another pic. Thanks for looking!

Cute! I really like the design; it has a sort of vintage feel to it even with the novelty fabric. And the fact that it glows in the dark is just amazing. Glad I could provide inspiration

I love the dress so much!  I always want to use novelty fabrics but getting the balance right is important.  Did you use a pattern for the dress?

The fact that it's Carebears AND glows in the dark just makes it the most epic thing ever.

Did you use a pattern for the dress?

I used this really old style pattern. As you can see from the back of the packet it's a pretty simple design. I use view B added some flare to the skirt, scooped out the neck a little more and added some ease to the sleeve head for some little gathers. I love poofy sleeves. And tulle.

I found that same fabric in a bargain bin somewhere and HAD to buy it   !!! I ended up making a care bear dress too, but I went CB fabric all the way lol I don't think I posted it on here, but if I can find a pic I'll put it up!! I LOVE yours!!!
