So I kept losing pens and the little scissors at work (and need someplace to stick my mp3 player in the summer when I put my fleece away)...

Aprons from Simplicity 2272

Applique from McCall's 6334

Mini Owl applique on back

Dinosaur applique I made based on cute fabric pattern I have.

These are so cute and useful, I was wondering what you used to attach the appliqus? (as they don't appear to be sewn on, though that could just be my comp.)

I love dinosaurs, and purple is my favourite color, so I think I'm biased towards the dinosaur one, too, even though the owl is pretty darn cute.

These are so cute and useful, I was wondering what you used to attach the appliqus? (as they don't appear to be sewn on, though that could just be my comp.)

I used Heat 'n' Bond fusible web, the heaviest kind. It will come off eventually, but given that I leave these at work/they don't get so dirty, they probably won't be washed very often (the fusible web is machine washable anyway). If I really wanted them to last forever, I should've stitched (preferably satin-stitch) around the edges, but the McCall's pattern didn't call for it probably because some of the owl bits (his feet) were so small it would ruin their shape. Also, some of my fabrics are so textured, I did not wish to interfere with them either (and let's face it, I was being lazy/in a hurry to have some pockets). Hitting the velour appliques from the back of the apron really fused them on well, so I think they'll be good for quite a while.

I love the owl one. It is adorable I may have to copy these ones for my son ( loves dinos) and my neice ( her nickname is little hoot cause she has big adorable eyes)

Great Job!

Adorable!  I like them both a lot.  The back details are so cute and I really like how all the textures look together.
