Despite never having altered an Altoid tin, I decided to join the Wicked Circus Altered Tin swap. I was pretty anxious about the whole thing but it was too fun to pass up.

I went with a wicked freak show concept for my tin. It's supposed to look like one of those traveling circus gypsy type cart thingeys Smiley. I made ATCs that can be added to the tin to change the show.

Mr. Lime helped me cut most of the top of the tin out and I used rackycoo's awesome tutorial to cover the whole thing in paper. I used a heavy paper american flag paper - the stripes felt circus'ey. I sewed the curtains out of quilting cotton and used floral wire to hang them. Thanks to some advice from Stifflersmom and amaryllisroze, I blinged up the curtains with sequins and gems. The wheels are made from wooden spools that I painted and glued on.

Here are some shots of the inside and the ATCs that slip in. I added little ribbons to them so they are easier to pull out.

This one has a mirror on it so when you look at it, you're part of the freak show too!

And here's the back and a shot of the detail on the top.

I had fun with this project and am looking forward to making another one. I learned a ton!

Thanks for looking Smiley.

Wowsers -- that's fabulous! I love that you can change the scene, love the curtains, love the spools for wheels... I love it. Grin

Where did you get your images? They're really perfect for that project!

Oh thank you!

I got the images in a collage sheet from Etsy. I can't seem to find them now but I think it was from this shop... http://www.etsy.com/shop/rebelsher.

This is really cool.  The flag does look circus-y and the spools are brilliant!

Fantastic!

OMGOODNESS! I love this! It's so cool how you cut out the top (and I love it when man partners help!<3) and I LOVE how you made ACTS to change out the scenes. Most of all, I double LOVE that you used Chang and Eng! They're my favorite freaks (lovingly called that, of course) of all time!!! Awesome job!
