This is the first in a collection of upcycled sweater coats inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
It's made up of about 7 or 8 sweaters, all rescued from the thrift store. The only things not made of recycled material is the thread, zipper, and hood lining (which is Cheshire Cat fabric, of course).

It has a super full circle skirt, empire waist, and belt ties, and it weighs about 5 pounds.

stunning...your own pattern? Did you draw out the layout first and then get the sweaters?

it is simply wonderful to look at...

Thanks!
Yes, the pattern is my own, though you can cheat fairly easily by using the top of a sweater for the bodice- eliminates dealing with sleeves!

I bought a bajillion sweaters in all different colors first. When I got home, I laid them out on the living room floor and decided what colors I wanted to use. After that it was a matter of what sweaters go where.

Your eye for color and detail is amazing!  Any chance we can see the lining?

Amazing work - as usual!

I have always wanted to make myself one but was afraid to, as I am still teaching myself how to sew. With that said, Can this be done securely without a serger? I have a multiple stitch machine, but definitely not a serger.

I love this a lot, and wish to make mine in back and purples Orback and reds.
