And it went, wherever I did go...   Sorry, having a Monty Python moment there!

For the IYP swap, the very talented jemimah wanted some embroidery from me as part of the package. VERY STRESSFUL as her work is so amazing!

She likes practical things and she is an artist, so I thought I would sew a cover for a sketchbook and include some embroidery on that.

I was inspired to do fish based on something from her wist -

I used DMC floss - mostly 2 strands - in shades of blues and greens.  The background is an irridescent silk, which unfortunately doesn't photograph very well, but is really great to embroider on!
The tail and side fin are appliqued fabric.  The face is split stitch, fish outline is chain stitch, stem stitch around the face and fins (i think), detached chain for the scales, trellis stitch for the fin fill.

Whole cover:

Thanks for looking!

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

This is so gorgeous, and I am very lucky to have it!!! Grin

If we get some sunshine soon, I'll try and get a better pic of the fabric; it the most beautiful green, but the shot silk is hard to catch on camera.

I love my fishies so much! Thank you luckdragon, you're a truly awesome swap partner!
