Roll Eyes I've been reading over the posts and the guidelines...like a good potential swapper should! and I'm ready to jump in.  The advice from these awesome helpful boards seems sage..wait for a Newbie Swap to get your first swap in.  How often do they come along?  Is one in the works?

Thanks,
Deedee

Welcome to swapping, Deedee! Smiley

I didn't join a Newbie swap for my first swap - they are great, but you can join any swap, as long as they don't specifically say you must be an experienced swapper (nearly all swaps will accept newbies). I'd recommend starting with a small to medium sized swap, rather than big one. But any one that interests you should be fine, and organisers are generally very good at helping new swappers learn the ropes.

Grin Thanks for the tip!  and, as you can see I'm not very "chatty" either (2 posts in more than a year of lurking and loving Craftster) so I think once I find a small or med. swap in my field, I'll ask for permission to join.  What a great group!

No worries! And don't forget, you'll need to post at least 15 times before you can sign up for a swap too (you've probably already figured that out of course!).

I've had a lot of fun swapping - hope we see you round the swap boards Smiley

Maybe that's a dumb question, but qhat's the difference between a newbie and a regular swap?

The Newbie swap participants are all newbies, so it helps to alleviate some of the first swap jitters or worries about asking questions about the swap process since you are all in the same boat Smiley  There also isn't a theme, just size requirements and the organizers (all swap mods) try very hard to match people up who want what the other excels at.  Its a great way to learn the ins and outs of swapping!
