Bring it on, the more the merrier.  I made my mom a set with cotton batting.  She loves the antique quilt look when they're heavily stipple quilted then shrunk after washing.  Her's were to put plants on, so it didn't matter that  it was puffy.

I did make myself a set of insulated table runners that did shrink horribly, too.  I used the prepackaged, prequilted insulation with the silver stuff on the back.  Since they were for me it wasn't a big deal, but I'd have hated to send them out to anyone.  They work great though.  I can put the crock pot or hot pans right on the insulated table runner with no worries of ruining my table top.  Next time I'd use polyester batting with the plain silver heat resistant fabric and quilt it myself.

Iwas just telling my husband that I need some more place mats.  I collect vintage table cloth but it never occurs to me to look for place mats until my kids spill something LOL!  I'll have to ponder this for a moment, never made placemats before but it sounds like fun! Grin

Hmmm...I might join in, my "everyday" placemats are falling apart. I would prefer to make wet felted placemats, but could sew a set instead....

I would love a few mug rugs, and I could throw in a set of coasters in return!  Cheesy

Anya Kase, vintage stuff is great.  I just saw someone make a cute ruffled skirt out of bright funky 70's pillowcases.  Made me think those could be some awesome quilted placemats.

I'd love a set of wet felted placemats.  I'm not sure what exactly is involved in the process of wet felting, but as I don't have any felted ones, I know they'd be an amazing addition to any collection.  Since, I sew, those are right up my alley, too.  We'd love to have you, either way.

bluepaisan, we'll be waiting for you.

All right ladies, tomorrow is the last day for sign ups.  Some of you have said you'd be open to 4 or 8, thanks so much.  Can't wait to get everyone started on these.

I just sent my questionnaire! THanks for reminding me about the swap.

BTW - Is there a specific size for traditional placemats? How about lunch sized?

Just need to make sure I understand what size I"m supposed to make.
