Don't worry too much about not having made a doll before. I was nervous when I made my first poppet too, but they're actually pretty easy. I have a few posted on the toys, dolls and playthings board if you want to look. The more you do it the better you get.

I am SOOOOOOOO tempted, but I've never made a doll of any kind before, let alone these amazing poppets!!  Hmmmmm.....  off to mull it over...

I've never made a doll either, but I put a skill level in the questionaire so that we can be partnered with people of our skill level - that way there's no craft anxiety!

Wow!   When I saw this swap in the front of the forum, I was just gonna follow it...I love the poppets, but haven't made one yet.  I have made other stuffed dolls, bears, etc...but not poppets.

If you are cool w/a beginner poppet maker, then I am absolutely in.

I'm just like you pkwj.....I've never made a poppet but I've made sock monkeys. I"m not sure I have all the materials like the ball joints.

I'll have to think about this.... Undecided

I love poppets!  My kids have been asking me to make more and I always make at least 3 or 4 at a time, so this swap could be perfect for me. Wink

i bought some beautiful white microsuede and found out that it so didn't work as well as the thicker microsuede i bought before that was cheaper. it made my poppet lumpy. i guess you learn from your mistakes.... Smiley

i was going to make poison ivy and harley quinn. back to the drawing board...

Wow, I wasn't going to do any swaps because of the price of shipping, but this one is rather tempting. I'm definitely going to have to think about this one.

And like others have said, they're really not too hard to make. Just make sure you don't have the suede that frays. You can still do it, it's just a little more difficult. And don't worry about being absolutely perfect. They still look great even if you do sew a little wonky.
