What's in YOUR dress-up trunk?

Technically speaking, I don't actually have a dress-up trunk, but one would be handy for my significant other's and my collection of dress-up stuff.

This might be a cool thread for those of us who are slowly getting our costume stuff together to check out other costumer's staples are and see what we might be missing, as well as providing inspiration for future costume projects. I'll start.

To begin with, my favorite aesthetics and costume genres are Victorian/Edwardian, steampunk, circus, fairy, and pirate, to name a few. Many of these items have already been worn in previous costumes.

Tops
- White, long-sleeved button down with pintucked front
- Brown vest with subtle white and mustard plaid
- Black mesh "bustier"
- Black, short-sleeved, mid-calf lolita-type dress
- White, sleeveless, high-neck, lace yoke, mid-calf Edwardian dress with shoulder-to-shoulder lace ruffle
- Grey satin overbust corset from What Katie Did

Bottoms
- Grey pleated minskirt
- Black tiered miniskirt
- Below-the-knee tan pants with knee buttons
- Black and white striped mini bloomers
- Grey taffeta tie-on bustle

Accessories
- Black and white striped cuffs
- Assorted fringed scarves
- Brown steampunk goggles

Headgear
- Brown leather aviator hat
- Black short brim fedora
- Black floppy brim fedora
- White Tilley hat
- Black top hat with red feathers

Outerwear
- Blue double-breasted jacket with white piping and buttons, very mod and sailory
- Black and white plaid trench
- Brown wool crop jacket with short sleeves
- Red pinstriped ringmaster jacket

Shoes
- Black knee-high boots with short heel
- Grey ankle boots with spat-like details

Want to Make
- knee-length Victorian-esque bloomers with bottom ruffle
- small draped bustle just to cover butt
- Elizabethan corset/fake bustier costume piece that looks like the style
- short renaissance bodice
- red, ruffly pirate pants out of old velour sweats

I had a dress up trunk (okay, suitcase) but it's overflowed to closets, boxes, drawers...
Looks like you have quite a few pieces to work with already in your collection too!

LOL I'm scared to inventory my costume closet...Between me and my brother, it's pretty intense. Though I am getting ready to move and probably should try and organize it!

I like your idea of organizing it by body part, but I have a lot of complete costumes too: http://www.embercostumes.com/costumegallery.html. (And those aren't all of them!)

I'd probably organize by "period" though, roughly. Like renfair-ish items, regency items, anime items, etc. For this thread I'll focus on my renfair stuff.

(the guys usually opt for BDUs for comfort/utility rather than period-correct stuff)

None. I want a cloak but I live in Texas where it is supremely hot most of the year.

This really helped me see what I'm lacking...for guys, it seems like I have a lot of good understuff/basics but need more tunics/overshirts and accessories. For girl stuff...I'd really like to have more mix-n-match renfair stuff, but I'm not sure I go often enough for it to be worth my time. I'm probably better off just doing one costume at a time.
