pop into the 3d2d craft fair later in the year and you'll meet quiet a few artist and crafters from the local area

I know what you mean! - the fabric shop in Inverness (Remnant Kings?) is like that - looked at me like I was 4!

Havw you guys found any decent craft/material shops? I'm getting most of my supplies (and an ever growing button collection..!) from local charity shops ^^

Working a sewing machine is harder to than driving a JCB. No, really.

Hi everyone, I live in Inverness.

These are the places I've found to go to for crafting stuff near to me:
For fabric and some notions you can go to Remnant Kings on the Longman Industrial estate http://www.remnantkings.co.uk/. It specialises in curtain and upholstery fabrics, but you can get some stuff that's suitable for dress-making. In the town itself there are 3 small shops in the Victorian Market in which you can find embroidery threads, wool, kits etc. It's a small selection and quite expensive but you can have some fun window shopping at the very least. Just outside of town is a "shed" which used to be a haven for quilters. Unfortunately it changed hands not long ago and now feels quite soul-less. However, it's still the place to go for printed fabrics. The website is http://mandy-patchescorner.blogspot.com/

If you can think of other shops please post them  Smiley

There is a new gallery 'HUNG' in Inverness with a teaching space. Most Friday mornings they do a 'make time' where you bring something you are working on and chat/drink tea etc. 10am-12am.
there is a craft shop at Howdens garden centre. Pricey but OK.
There is a felting group meets once a month in Dingwall www.spanglefish.com/highlandfelters and the spinners and weavers every second Saturday of the month.
There is also speed crafting once a month in Inverness
The Greenhouse in Dingwall has a knitting group once a week and a textile project called 'sprig' they also stock second hand craft equipment and various stash stuff.
Any craftsters want to arrange a meet in Inverness ? we could get something going.
