I would like to make my son some periodic table blocks, like these (http://www.thinkgeek.com/geek-kids/1-3-years/e5f7/?cpg=142H&cpg=cj&ref=&CJURL=) . He's only 8 months old so obviously everything he has currently goes in his mouth. I was wondering if anyone knew what sort of paint I could use that would show well on wood blocks and be safe enough that if he decided to chew on it, he'd be ok. Thank you!

You could look into milk paint.

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

This is probaly too late for you but maybe others are looking for the same thing. Amber Dusick shares about a lot of safe paint options here http://www.make-baby-stuff.com/finishes-for-wood.html
It's nice because she has examples of each.
