I have a couple skirts made, the first one I just did the last couple days, the pencil skirts were before newyears but I forgot to upload them to here.

First: Pleated mini.. holy crap is this ever short! I only had so much fabric left over to work with so I had to make do.. had just enough actually, but its definitely a skirt Im going to be wearing shorts under when I wear it out!!

Second: good ol' black pencil skirt
I am obsessed with pencil skirts. Its almost a problem, if they werent so wonderful...

Third: Another pencil skirt!
This time with some pleats on the bottom AKA the main reason why I bought the plaid fabric in the first place ^_^.

All the patterns were made by me.. I just.. normally pin fabric on me until it fits right and sew it! Id offer a tutorial but it would be 1 step: "Wing it".

Tongue Anyway, thanks for looking, any questions, comments and critiques welcome!

very cool! when you "wing" your pencil skirts do you use darts? i just made my first one of my own pattern and the darts gave me hell! my rump is 6 inches wider than my waist  Undecided so to have a proper pencil line i have no choice but to dart... any tips? yours seem to fit like gloves

I also love pencil skirts, these are cute and will get you miles of use.

aprettymess, Princess seams! I dislike darts on my skirts as well, I have a hard time figuring out where I want them to end, and if you need to take it in....ugh! But if you cut out the darts and turn them into princess seams then you can easily adjust the seams to fit your body like a glove. I even put them in my shorts pattern I drafted!

Thats an idea too, but yes I do use darts. I sew the sides so it fits my waist, put it on inside out, and pin the darts until it fits just right, take it off, make sure theyre even and sew them! The black material is a bit stretch too, so just enough to make sure that everything fits just right.

do you put 2 darts... 1 on the center of each butt cheek? (for lack of a better description  Undecided lol)
