I made these little booties over the weekend:

The base is wet felted and the design is needle felted. I love wool! Smiley

I am gasping at their cuteness!!  Question!  How do you shape them?  Do you mold them over an existing shoe?  How do you make them so symmetrical?  I am a wet felting novice and my stuff always comes out pretty wonky.

Thank you!
I was thinking that I wanted a pair in my size now too...maybe slightly less cute.

@flower-
I used a flat resist to make the initial shape (making both at the same time) and then cut the two shoes apart and stuck my hands inside each one, first felting them by rubbing the soles on bubble wrap, shaping it by changing the direction I rubbed in. Felt will shrink in the direction you rub so you can control the shaping by altering how you agitate it. I just made sure to work both shoes as similarly as possible...and when one was slightly larger than the other-just felted the large one a bit more until it obeyed me and shrank to the right size.

I think that it's best to start out with cool to tepid water when felting and increase the temperature once the wool is really holding together well. I  check the wool often....even though I'd rather just keep rolling the bubble wrap I have learned to unwrap it and check much more often so I can get out wrinkles and alter direction if I see an unwanted bump or large area developing.

Those are gorgeous!  That's one lucky baby who gets to wear those.  Cool that the ladybugs are also wool.  I thought they were buttons at first glance.  Great job!
