Catching the Undead Since 2011!

I've been toying with the idea of starting a waldorf children's / nature table swap.  My son is still really, really young but I've been so inspired by reading books about waldorf and would love to start an evolving natural table for us once we get settled in our new house.

Are there any like minded mamas and families around here?  I think it would be fun to have a swap that's waldorf or waldorf-inspired in theme and involves natural materials/toys/etc.

Yes! I just got out my book "the Children's Year" so we could make Spring fairies. Hoping to encourage Spring to HURRY!

Yay - I love that book! I also just got "Family, Festivals and Food" (or some combination of those three words) that has a lot of really great craft and recipe ideas, too. Smiley

Well, if nothing else, at least I'm not alone here!

Good to know. I've been wanting to look at that book. There is a little fair trade store in my area that sells lots of Waldorf toys and books. They have a bunch of the twig/stick play sets. I'd love to try building one of those this Spring, too.

I've been trying to be patient and slow about collecting toys for my son. He's six months so it'll be awhile before he needs little gnomes and all the cute waldorf toys.  *sigh*

BUT, I really do want to start a nature table.  And, I think we're going to start paying more attention to different holidays and festivals.

You're lucky that you've got a store that sells Waldorf toys/books.  We have a lot of natural children stuff around here but I don't recall seeing a specific waldorf-y store.

I love this idea!  I have started (somewhat) a nature table for my dd & I try to get her only wooden/natural toys.

So, it doesn't seem like there are so many of us, but I'd still like to do something.  Would you guys be interested in maybe a miscellaneous Waldorf-themed craft-a-long? We could share our nature tables, natural toys, etc., that we create throughout the year and maybe help inspire one another?

I know that I could use some support and inspiration. It would be nice to keep in touch with other mamas. Smiley

I'm totally down for a Waldorf craft-a-long. It would be especially awesome to share affordable resources and how-tos. For example, I know that I can't afford $15 for a single playsilk, but I'd love to find some for cheap that I could dye myself.

I made a bunch of peg dolls (and can't seem to stop) that I posted in the fake swap craft-a-long http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=369575.msg4444187#msg4444187

I also just won a Waldorf doll from the Twig and Toadstool blog! I can't wait to get her, and I'd really like to learn to make my own.

I'd be interested in a swap or craft-along!  I made little peg gnomes and fairies for her birthday, and I'm gathering branches to cut for some of those wooden log blocks.  I think her favorite toys are her felt foods, her rag doll, and her playsilks.
