My son loves Star Wars, the Clone Troopers are his favorite, there really isn't a good selection of stuff to buy that features the Troopers, maybe a poster or two.  So when we got new toilets and they came in really nice double walled boxes, I decided to make the boxes into canvases and make some Andy Warhol inspired troopers.

Each canvas is 16 inches square and is two layers of cardboard.  I glued the layers together and used paper mache to make it sturdier.  I primed the finished squares with gesso and used apple barrel craft paint to paint the design.
They are really light weigh, I need to seal them and to glue picture hangers on the back and they'll be ready to hang.
I'd love to hear what everyone thinks  Grin

IamAMonster and DuctTapeRockStar Thanks, my son was super excited when he saw them (he's 6), he told me my painting was beautiful and that they looked like they should be in a museum, he's so sweet <3

Those are really awesome!  I love how they're both recognizably "Star Wars" and yet very much "art."  Like pop art modernized for the new millenium.  Smiley

Fab! If this is what you can do with cardboard and craft paint, I'd love to see what you could do with fancy supplies!!

Thanks Ambri   Cheesy

Thanks, I think I actually get better results with the inexpensive supplies, there's no pressure, if it doesn't work out I'm not out a ton of money.  Plus it's a personal challenge of mine to spend less and craft more.  You should see what I do with stuff from the thrift store!

That is an awesome Idea. Great job on the painting!

I traced the same image onto all the panels and then just did it like a paint by number, it wasn't too hard, just a little time consuming.
