It could also be a recon project.  Alison W's skirts are often re-cons...!

what about a skirt from say a thrift store then you embellish it to the hilts.....or does it need to be "new"??

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Thrift store would be fine, as long as it's in great condition - should be *like new*, then can be altered (shortened, layers added, etc) then embellished!!  Grin

I'm planning on fake-swapping for this, as I'm too picky about how much/how little embellishment I want to make it clear to a swap partner.  Smiley Looking at the links on the first page reeled me in! And I have 2 plain white skirts begging to be crafted up.

Yay! I went to the store last night and got lots of things for a medium for my other swap so I just sent in my questionnaire for this one! I sounded rather picky, but I really am easy-going. I can't wait to get started!

Oh, and my favorite skirt book is Sew What Skirts. I must check out these others now, though.

Great to know - I'm going to need some good skirt books/patterns this spring!!

My mom brought me all her vintage patterns yesterday (from the 70's), and I can hardly wait to try a couple of those, too (but they're mostly dresses, not skirts).
