I made this for my daughters 6th birthday party.

It was made out of 4 cakes and was nearly a metre tall ... ok, so I tend to go a bit all out for kids parties.. as alas, I'm too old for fairy parties myself! lol

you like?

thanks!!... you're so sweet!!

and you know what? you're right! .. I'm planning a housewarming party soon and I'm seriously starting to think of an adult fairy theme.. maybe a bit cheeky, I can see my fishnet wings now!! hehe

the top is a cake base (as is it all) covered with royal icing, the peaks on the top (turrets?) are icing done in a big swirl kinda like how you fill an ice cream with that soft ice cream stuff..

tell you a funny story tho.. it set just a bit to hard and when it came time for my daughter to cut the cake she couldn't even get the knife in!! lol

live and learn!

Holy! That is ONE amazing cake! My grandma did cakes outrageously, but this is REDICULOUSLY outrageous! I am jealous of your cake-making skills and I hope the kids all enjoyed that cake.

Oooooh! It's NEVER too old to be a kid! How long have you been making big cakes like this? And how long did it take from start to finish? I wish I had a reason to make something massive like that... but at the same time, do we ever really need a good reason to do anything crafty? I think not. Grin

that is such a wonderful castle cake!  Did you have a lot of cake left over?  It looks like it was huge!
