So I started out making a card for my boyfreind's birthday and I ended up making a matchbook shrine instead.  (Don't worry -  I got him real gifts too!!) I was going to put a picture of him but he is super wierd about pictures, so I knew it would end up in a drawer if I did. So, I made him a shrine of me!! He only has one pic of me and it's super old. Hopefully this will get a choice spot on his desk so he can think about me longingly when he gazes at it!  Smiley

For some reason the scanner pooped out all my colors - in real life they are a lot more vibrant & loud!!

I kind of want to put some kind of romantic message on the back but I can't think what yet.  Hopefully I'll figure it out soon.. his birthday is tomorrow! Suggestions welcome!!!

I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions. I love your shrine though.

Well, his birthday was yesterday & I never did think of anything to write on there so I gave it to him as-is.  I tucked it in a box with some cute boxers I gave him.  I'd gotten him a variety of nice gifts, and didn't consider that thing a gift - it was more just a goofball thing I made for the fun of it.

Later in the evening I asked him what his favorite gift was and geuess what he said?!!  The matchbox thing!!  How sweet is that?!!

I think it's super cute and you look beautiful in that picture.

I think making shrines of one self to give to other people is one of the greatest things a person can do. It looks supercool! Cheesy

You may find the 'how to' on matchbox shrines at www.craftychica.com It's a cool site.  I saw the shrines there. I think she has an archive of past featured projets.

Thanks for the nice words, ladies.

I painted the "drawer" part of the matchbox one color, and then I cut up the lid to make the flappy bits (using scalloped scissors on the sides) and painted those in contrasting colors. Then I just started gluing stuff - glitter, a star rhinestone, my pic, pretty scraps & pix I tore form various places, a gold pipecleaner, etc..

So yeah, my honey (have I mentioned how much I adore this guy yet?) has decorated a shelf in his house with a bunch of handmade cards & stuff I had made him with this little shrine front and center.
