My drop spindle from Dawning Dreams arrived today!  I had so much fun with it.  I can't believe I've never tried spinning before.

It's 2 oz of wool and mohair microwave dyed with kool-aid, food colouring and old cold coffee; basically anything I had lying around the house.

I got a little impatient with my drafting so some chunks are a little thicker than I would have liked.  I also need to learn a smoother way of joining in new pieces of fiber but I'm pretty happy and proud of my first attempt.

I love the color.  I've never spun, but I like the idea. It's on the To-Learn list.  You should try dying with jello.  I use it to dye my hair sometimes, I'm thinking this is the same concept.

Sorry for being such a flake. Sad

It's on the To-Learn list.

Mine too.  I made myself a drop spindle a couple weeks ago, but I'm a bit short on funds at the moment, so I don't have any fiber to spin yet.  Seeing everyone's beautiful yarn is good motivation though.

This makes me happy for several reasons:
1) you did so good! Joining just takes some work, you'll get it.
2) Thick and thin is my favorite. Hang around here long enough and you'll hear all the "experienced" spinners saying how they wish they could go back to beginners thick and thin sometimes. Not me, though, I'm still there. I don't know if I'll grow out of it but that's cool, it makes a great texture when you work it up!
3) New spinner! Fresh Meat! I love it! Share your excitement! Don't miss our Fiber Friday threads, they are my favorites.

You other guys need to take it off your to-learn lists and just learn it already! It's wonderful! Join us! Join us and together we can rule the universe!

Great yarn!  I really love how the dye turned out.  The colorway is so complex yet subtle, I think it will look great in a finished project!

Good job on your very first! Love the random-household-goods colours!

I ran out of my beginner's blob awhile ago and I'm sooooo itching to buy more Tongue
