Madhatterdesign,
I have some ideas and tips to present your scarf (and future ones) in a more interesting way on Etsy and attract more viewers and possible buyers. Only right now it's late at night in my part of the world and I'm taking off very early in the morning to go sell on a market. So promise I'll take time to get back to you Monday!

Your front picture just shows a piece of knitting, not a scarf. However interesting it may look to a knitter (like myself) the possible buyer is looking for a scarf and wants to see a scarf. So that front shot should be a close-up of the scarf nicely wrapped around the neck, without showing the whole body and face and not necessarily showing the complete item. A possible 'drape' could be just wrapped around the neck once, then a single flat knot in front showing off the unique knitwork with that cable on one side.
Second if the viewer arrives in you current listing at all, right now the second shot shows a beautiful girl wearing a scarf, not a beautiful scarf on an attractive model. I sort of have to search for the scarf in it and make an effort to take my attention away from the model. Can't blame your boyfriend  Wink but you should try to turn that around.  I'm not saying you can't show your head in any of the pictures, but you should focus on the scarf so you don't want to show your whole body in all of the photo's. Even in the overall shot try to let the scarf fill it up, not you as a model.
For inspiration take a look at this shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/afra

I was doing really well, updating regularly and getting lots of views. Then for the past 2 weeks i've been so busy in the day job that I haven't had time to even touch it! My views have definitely suffered Sad

Again I don't really have time to do any sewing or things today, but hopefully tomorrow I can do something. I've also started looking for a new job, one that doesn't take up so much of my time and make me so tired.

Yes, ThePenguinTheory, it is true: the more you put into your Etsy shop, the more you get out of it.

Since I just opened mine, I'm mostly just promoting and trying to figure out the best pictures, participating in teams, etc. I already have over 120 shop admirers as well as followers so I know I'm doing something right. I have 2 sales, but they are both friends helping me out. I am having trouble keeping followers on twitter,  so that's not helping with promotion. I'm cresting treasuries and all that. Trying to stay positive and hoping I'll see my interest skyrocket. The Penguin Theory, I as well, know what you mean about low views when you don't have the time to post in teams and things. Those days my faves sure are lower.
