my friend requested a "throw pillow" for her birthday this year, so i decided to do a quillow!  she has mostly teal with orange accents in her apartment, so i made the lap quilt out of flannel and the pillow front from quilter's cotton.  was able to put it together in a few hours, and now this is my go-to homemade gift Smiley
all folded up in pillow form:

What a fabulous and practical idea!!

The colors are lovely together...and no need for stuffing!

This might be my go-to gift for Christmas presents--it is very unique and different!

Thanks for posting!

That's fantastic!  I like the color choices and it looks very cozy.  My fiancee's mother has made him two of those and we keep one in the car for road trips.

What a great idea to keep one in a car, especially in winter!  I think I have some Christmas gifts to make! Cheesy

My mom and I have been making quillows for years as quick homemade gifts. I'm glad we're not the only ones. Yours is gorgeous, megstar! Cheesy I love the colors and it looks really soft. Did you quilt or tie the lap blanket?

Of course Mom and I cheat when we do quillows. Mom just uses fleece and skips the whole piecing & quilting process. I piece and quilt the pillow front/pocket then sew it to a store bought blanket. It is an awesome gift. I just made two for a wedding last week--eventually I'll get my act together and post pictures.
