I am going to a conference this week, and need something that I can write in. Last year I bought a couple of blank journals so I finally got around to decorating the cover of one of them (as well as the pen that came with it, and a bookmark for it).

I didn't realize that the polka dot pattern on the front was so close to the button flap, and I am not thrilled with that. Oh well.

Opened up to see the whole cover (and yes, I measured wrong, so there is some of the journal blank showing  Undecided):

The pen and bookmark (we will see how resistant the "good" pen I used to draw on the unfinished pen is to bleeding):

The inside is fairly boring - I just put a pocket for business cards (it won't hold very many, but hopefully it will hold enough)

And next to one of the blank ones:

Sorry for the picture overload - I have spent more time making this than I have on getting ready to go...  Roll Eyes

You definitely will be able to tell which journal is yours!  I think it is lovely and shows off your creative personality...betcha it will be an icebreaker at the conference!

I think you might be obsessing about the polka dots...I like using the same pattern in a couple of places...stop telling people!! Cheesy

I hadn't noticed the polka dot thing until you pointed it out! It is such a beautiful set, with those warm browns and cool blues, all subtle and encouraging-like. It WANTS you to write in it!

The bookmark and pen are great, too!

I said this in the 50 in 2011 thread, but you might want to get ready for folks asking you to make THEM one!

Have fun at the conference!

This is so cute! And I thought the polka dots near the button was a design choice!

Love the bookmark too!

How did you do the pen? Did you do that on paper and then glue it to the pen? My poor eyes - I could never do work like that.  Smiley

eta: perhaps use a pleat when making the pocket for business cards next time.

I still think it looks like leather in its finished form!

Well, wasn't doing this part of getting ready to go? Mentally putting yourself in the conference and whatever you'd be thinking about and wishing to write down? Like making the bathing suit (or whatever) in anticipation of the beach?! Cheesy
