leave it to the hubby to make more work for me. i showed him the progress on my blanket and he gave me a few criticisms. i was only 24 5 in squares away from finishing. now i am 77 squares away. i am adding another row on each side, making it 13 squares wide and it will stay 14 squares long. he asked if i could make squares that are half blue and half yellow, i said i could try. and then he upped the anti by saying that i need to do 1 square that is 1/4 yellow and 3/4 blue and another one that is 1/4 blue and 3/4 yellow. to make the M in the blanket look more realistic. so i will be working on it for a bit longer than anticipated.

on a side note, i've only done solid color squares. so if anyone has any tips on how to do multi color squares, i would appreciate it.

Ok, I need to get back on this. I know I've posted this picture before, but I keep forgetting to take a new one. So just multiply this square by 4, and you'll know my progress.  Cheesy

Now to get back and actually work on it...

whoohoo...=] lots of stitching being done...well, maybe not as much on my part...I've been outside digging up plants to divide and cleaning out flower beds.  Gotta work when the weather is good!  =]

Here is my progress thus far:

5th row done, next 6 squares begun and all of the white poncho is now rolled up and ready to make up more squares.  I'm not sure how many more rows I can get from them...

You guys are doing so great! I'm new to the forum *waves* Hi! I have a granny square project I'm working on...it's all doll-sized! Anyway, I'll try to post pics. Let me know if it doesn't work:

The fleece behind the granny square will be the pillow backing (the granny square will be the decorative front). It's a fun project. Smiley

Thanks for looking!

Love that idea!  I've done a couple of granny pillows w/sweater pieces for backing...=]  Can't wait to see how yours turns out.  I think you have a great square crocheted, too.

I just started making granny squares a couple days ago. My friends announced they are pregnant, so i tried to decide what i would make them. I've been wanting to make a blanket for a long time now, and i thought a granny square baby blanket would be fun. (I think crocheting squares would be much more fun for me than crocheting a blanket as one piece.)
I only know one type so far, but i see there are tons of them out there...
Also, the only hook i have so far is an F.

Anyway, this is my first square ever:
A group shot:
I made one more after i took that picture.
I can't decide on colors for the blanket yet. I'd like to use stash for it, so i'll probably just pick the most baby-ish colors i have and switch them all around for each square.

Excellent squares bananaleg!  I like what you've made so far...and they are addictive, quick, and satisfying...granni es, that is... Wink
I think you will have a wonderful baby blanket no matter the gender and one that will grow-up w/the little one!

I love that everyone is posting pics more now, they all look fantastic!

I ran into a bit of a problem today as I was crocheting my granny together and realized I don't have near enough squares DOH! I only have a bit of every color left so I will be making as many more as I can until it runs out and see if it makes it large enough to make me happy.

That's too bad you don't have enough squares. If it's any consolation, it looks awesome already. I adore the colors.
