Painted shoes thanks to a fellow craftster's tute

After seeing the wonderful post by apathena21 here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=373972.0 with the tutorial I knew I had to give this a try! (I wanted to forever and never knew how to go about it )

Normally Im horrible with a paintbrush unless its for my nails so I was a little weary but it wasnt nearly as bad as I expected. I dont have a good enough hand (or a small enough brush) for the black outlines so for that I ended up using a sharpie pen, and also I didnt have any yellow paint so I used a yellow (regular sharpie) and the color bled quite a bit (though you cant see it in the pictures) but overall Im super happy I didnt botch my favorite pair of heels. I also put on 2 coats of Krylon Triple thick crystal clear glaze, so hopefully that will keep the paint from coming off too easy.

Also, its not my drawing by the way, I searched 'sugar skull' in google .

Anyway, 20$ worth of paints later..







When I just had the base coat layed down. Didnt think to take more photos of the whole process.

good job. i don't think i could do two pictures the same. i'll probably end up measuring the size of the under sole and doing some photoshopping then print it out on some sticky paper and then coat it in something. but then that would be cheating i guess.

Thats what I did, kinda. Mirrored the image and traced it onto the shoes. Then painted them. Trust me, Im not that talented to do it freestyle

I wonder if those paint markers would work for those who don't feel comfortable painting.

I can not paint or draw for the life of me, but I do love playing around with the paint markers, they are really fun and easy to doodle with
