Thanks so much.

Awesome. I love the bees. I tried making handles like that once but it was a total fail. Glad to see it can be done.

There was a fail that involved handsewing the hole shut and re-stitching the top.  Then I put a facing on it and machine sewed it up instead.  First one took ages, 2nd was quick. Smiley

I love the prints and the style of it! I have never attempted to make my own purse, but this makes me really want to try! Did you use a pattern at all or just make it up?

Its just a square bottom bag.  The top is another rectangle with a curve traced from a little oval plate I have.  I can draw a picture of the pattern if it would help

You have to forgive my questions, i have always wanted to make a purse but havent attempted one yet. I think i get what you mean about the square/rectangle. Did you line it with anything stiff in the bottom or sides to keep its shape?

I used a medium weight interfacing on the outer fabric, and on all 4 handle pieces.  It stands on its own, but its not completely rigid.  You could use a heavier weight and also put interfacing on the lining fabric if you wanted it really stiff.

Also here is a (very) crude drawing of the pieces I used.
Smiley  Hope I have helped you

Ooh I like this style of bag! This could be a great use for all of the scraps of cartoon sheets from the 1980s that I have left over from outlandish patchwork pants I used to make in high school. Nice job, I like the buzzy bee.
