Because I'm pushy I can answer that one...on these particular tins (the tiny ones) the rim is already black when you but it. On altoid tins, I will use a Staz-on Ink to darken mine.

The top edge is achieved by inking the edges of the paper. That's not an altoid tin, though, it's a smaller "Seattle's Best Coffee" tin, and the rim comes that way. Sorry, I don't have a trick for aging the rims.

EDIT: aroze pushily answered first, but she had a better answer than I did.  Cheesy

Thanks for the tip! I've been using a pigment ink pad and it's a MESS! Never seems to dry.

I'm a bit stuck on whether or not to add one more element to my tin before I officially call it done. If anyone would be willing to take a look at a pic and provide their opinion I would REALLY appreciate it Smiley.

Absolutely love that tin, even though there are clowns inside it.  Smiley

I'm living/working in Yosemite Nat'l Park til further notice! Blogging about it here. No swapping for me, and minimal crafting time, for the coming months. Almost done with library school! That sums things up for now.

I hate pigment ink and very rarely use it because it seems to dry.

I could probably sacrifice a few minutes to help you out, if you like.  Wink
