I came across this box at the thrift store yesterday & had to open it.

When I opened the box, I got this....

I had never seen this before.

All those little metal drawers!  The metal box!  The numbered label!
I was in love.  But I wasn't sure why.  I decided it would make an excellent coffee table peice to hold inchies (even tho I am yet to have or make a single inchie.....)

you can write the title or the artist here....

One side has a pattern and one side has a solid color and a metal "frame" that I just love. Each one can be pulled up by a tab or ribbon and can be removed.

They are quick load slide magazines for a slide projector, for those of you who,l like me, have no clue what they were designed for :-) But since I have neither slides not a projector, I like my design better.  Any other ideas what they could be used for? I have quite a few!!!  :-D

Great find!  I am not sure exactly what else they could be used for...the metal frames would be wonderful for framing small pieces of art work for notecards, shrines, etc.

I bet they used to hold precious family slides...I have trays and trays of those and I did manage to save our old projector as well!

Have fun with it!

I am SO tempted to go raid the old family slide collection now just to claim the trays.  The family's falling apart, so at least something good can come of things!  Wink

GREAT idea.  I love interactive conversation pieces and this certainly works for that.

Wisting!

As someone addicted to inchies, I love this idea!

And I think you could come up with some funky jewelry to make out of those slide thingies. Chunky necklaces, big pins, etc. You could also use them if you are making journals or albums -- put one of those on the cover to highlight a cool photo or something. Attach three of them together to make a triptych art piece? Make magnets out of them? Fun stuff! Grin
