Wow, you have been busy! I love yarn blending techniques, I've tried some while knitting, but nothing this colourful. I'm not an avid crocheter, but now I'd like to try it again.

do you know how many skeins/balls of crochet thread you used (even approximately)? i'm trying to figure out how much it would cost for me to try the blending technique on a blanket :-)
[/quote]
...hmmm... I used 21 different colours, 3 balls of each colour. I was able to make these 2 spiderweb afghans,
a hexagon blanket (

or http://www.flickr.com/photos/babukatorium/sets/72157623530381148/),
a flower dress (

or http://www.flickr.com/photos/babukatorium/sets/72157623399052661/),
the rhomb top (

),
the spiderweb top (

)
and my rainbow crochet parasol (

or http://www.flickr.com/photos/babukatorium/sets/72157624398282460/)!!!
Spiderweb is not a yarn eater pattern...!

OMG. I looove it! I'm always glad to see I'm not the only one with an
un
healthy obsession with rainbows. I've often dreamed of creating an afghan with colors that melt into each other, but never thought about blending to achieve that look. I always came up short, not being able to find enough variation in colors. I have to admit, I'm a little confused about your reference to #8 cotton, is that 8 wraps/inch? I thought the larger the number the bulkier the yarn. Most of the yarn I purchase isn't labeled by number, and the largest I've found is a five, which is rather heavy. I'm guessing that the yarn you used is similar to the tatting yarn I see and admire the colors of but suspect I don't have the patience to work with. Sometimes I get frustrated purchasing yarn because many of my (now vintage) books on crochet make references to descriptions of yarn that the industry seems to have dropped. (Such as the size and type of twist) I'm looking forward to finally creating a dreamy happy afghan of my own now! BTW, I love
all
of your work.

Yes, working is my drug!
And crocheting for me seems to be an endless way to self expression... Try!
Craftgasm Kate: I hope to be helpful.

Hm. I didn't know that yarn sizing is not international... Sorry. I say it in another way: I used yarns that normally must be worked with 1.25-1,50 hook... I don't know why they call yarns with numbers.
Good luck for Your happy afgan!
And thank You for the kind words!
MamanTattoo: Thanks!

Wow! Just... Wow!
Would love to try out something with rainbow colours as well (but with a smaller project, the chance of me letting it hibernate half way through is too big with an afghan haha)

Ahah! I started with a scarf (

)... and than I've found to be infected by the blending virus!
Good luck for Your first project!

Gorgeous!!! If I could afford this & wasn't a crocheter myself, I'd definitely buy it. It's
awesome
& so is your parasol & other projects. I adore the spiderweb pattern too.Together with the colors it's the perfect combo.
