I just made this for a contest I am sponsoring, and wanted to get some opinions on it. This style of handbag is very popular for us, and I have just started making the coordinating accessories....

Thanks   Wink

BagLady, the flames (and your other bags) are great, as is your site!  You should charge more - you're going to make the rest of us look bad! Tongue

lol hilatron - thanks - i would love to charge more, but firstly, i am always unsure of my work -  i haven't been doing this for long! and secondly, i try to keep my stuff within my own budget... i don't want to charge more than i would (or could!) pay.

cb1271 - you can win this set, free  Smiley I will post (if it's okay) when the contest starts & where!

Thanks for all your comments, I really appreciate them! I personally would have probably never chosen the flames to do the project in, but the "targeted audience" for this contest (in my opinion) screamed flames lol

You could *definitely* charge more for pretty much all of the items on your site. I'd say at least $30 for the bags and maybe $12-$15 for the wallets?

BTW, I think there may be just a couple of incorrect links on your shopping pages -- On the handbags page, the "Wilma" thumbnail image links to a pic of "Olive". Also, both the second and third thumbnails link to a description of "Ruby w/ a twist" -- Hope that helps you out!

Arrghhh Thanks!! I just started the new design yesterday and am still working out all the kinks... and wondering why I chose frames, lol... anywho, thanks - I'll work on that!

I don't know why, but I am really nervous of charging too much! My site has only been online for 3 weeks and I have sold one thing from it, the rest of our sales have been word of mouth/in person! I just don't know... it really makes me nervous to think someone might pay $30 for a bag and get it and think "This is crap!" (even though I make sure it's not!), lol... paranoia, I guess  Shocked

I appreciate the compliment though, thank you  Grin

I didn't notice, but do you have some sort of traffic-measuring program on your site? If you've only had your site online for 3 weeks, maybe you're just not getting much web traffic yet.

it is so easy to undervalue your own work for fear of disappointing people. i hope all these compliments help you believe that your bags and accessories are de-lovely! i really like the shapes, and all the finishing looks really well-done.

I love your stuff!  Very cute!!

I must agree, you are undercharging - almost to the point that it might hurt your sales-more than help.  People expect to pay a bit more than that for quality handmade products- charging so little de-values your hard work!  I fully agree that you should up the ante a bit.  Peopple will look at other sites and wonder why yours are so "cheap".
From what I see, you do good work, and have really cute ideas!! DONT SELLL YOURSELF SHORT!:)

I checked out your site and I LOVE your stuff. Would you mind if I made a link to your website from mine? I know lots of LARPers who would love your bags, especially the prices (as most of them are poor highschool and college students). I have to admit though, if I saw those in a store I'd expect to pay more- they look frickin awesome.

I LOVE your work! I love carrying 'conversation pieces', and your purses are so that!

Do you do anything in Asian prints? If so, let's talk!

And I agree... you do need to sell for what you are worth! Raise your prices!

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the compliments  Grin
Things are finally selling, so I will probably raise prices soon - that is definitely a confidence booster! Not to mention, I'm working on new bags and I guess the more you sew, the more tips & tricks you learn so they are turning out better.

I'd definitely be interested in trading links, visit my link page for more info http://www.gracietom.com/linkexchange.html

And.. I've looked at some asian prints, but haven't really come across any that I fell in love with (and I have a hard time with fabric if it doesn't "move me" on sight, LoL) - if you know of any good fabric resources that have Asian prints, I'd definitely be interested in checking them out. I am also searching for Batiks - some are just beautiful, and others are, well... blah.  Wink

Thanks guys, you make me feel so much better - I love this place!!

Love the do-rag for your hair.  You should make more of those...they're still pretty hot right now and not a lot of people make them.
