Hi everyone.
I am really into steampunk right now and previously made an owl (which I haven't posted here yet) but I just finished off a 'Bat' and I would love some feedback Smiley
Thanks!

I have to say my first thought when I saw this was 'steampunk teddy bear!' But now I see how it's a bat. I love the playfulness in this piece, although I personally would have made the dangling chains longer or added beads to the ends.

This is lovely! I'm not that familiar with steampunk, but I think this looks awesome! I don't know if you were going for cute, but I think it's cute.

Thanks everyone Smiley
I was aiming for 'cute' with a mechanical vibe so I guess I succeeded?  Smiley
Can someone please tell me what 'wisted' is?  Is it good?

I actually tried adding various things like cogs, sprockets, etc to the ends but it just didn't seem balanced properly so after many attempts, I decided it looked best without (at least to me) Smiley

I love steampunk too but I am nowhere as good as you at executing the look. That bat is seriously cute. Those beady little eyes (ha! pun!) are a great touch. If you don't mind my asking what element made you decide on "bat" versus something else?

Hmm, well I guess in my head it was always meant to be a bat so when I designed it, I made it as I thought a bat would look.  I guess what makes it a bat to me is the way the wings are.   Now don't laugh-  I chose to use the filigree for wings because it reminded me of a bat in motion flying high towards the moon on a starless night.  The wings curve up at the ends implying that a lot of power is used to fly at a high altitude quickly.  My gosh, I'm a weirdo.  But I guess that's the closest thing I can give to an answer for you! Smiley
I guess it's kinda like those Rorschach tests- you see what you wanna see Cheesy

On a side note- thanks to all who 'wisted' me!!

I loooove it. It almost has a chibi feature about it. I love that you used the rhinestones for the eyes, super pretty.
Can I ask you if you welded (sp?) or glued the piece? I always wonder about that when I see stuff with watch parts.

Hello,
I have no idea what a 'chibi' feature is, but thank you!
The piece is first ground down to give it texture.  Next comes industrial epoxy.  I have tried to break these off once it's attached but it just won't move.  And last, to give it extra stability I solder it Smiley
I am too clumbsy to use a welder, especially in my 8 x 8 craft room!!
Cheesy
