A nice project for a lazy Sunday.  Destash on fabric scraps and 26 happy cats.  I made 2 for my cats and they love 'em!

They are so cute!  You are right; this is a great way to use up stash fabric.

What a great idea. I have so many scraps that could be made into these, but I always think they have to look "pretty". Cats won't care.Tongue

I stuffed them with polyfill and a bit of premium catnip

and amalgam, it's true, cats don't care what they look like- they didn't come out NEAR perfect, but my cats didn't care!

got some photos from the shelter, the cats love them.  they are also in need of kitty hammocks- so the cats sharing a cage can have their own little cozy space.  i'm gonna try that next:  http://www.readymade.com/blog/home-and-garden/2010/03/09/how-to-make-a-kitty-hammock

This is just perfect for all of the scraps that I can't throw away because I'm sure I will use them some day.  I will have to see if I can hid the ones for the shelters from my cats or they will end up under the 'fridge with everything else!

What a great idea! I've been putting all my scraps in a bag, but thinking of getting rid of it because all the pieces are too small for toys etc... but this is perfect!
Thank you for the inspiration

I LOVE this idea. Mostly because I love cats. And crafting. So this is the perfect combination.

Does anyone know where you can buy catnip? Is it easy to find/inexpensive to buy?

That is an adorable idea- I keep meaning to  do something like this, but start making things too complicated  Roll Eyes

room eleven, any pet shop (even chains like Petsmart/Petco) will sell catnip- you can get a tub for only a few dollars, and since you only need a pinch or two per toy, it goes a long way!  It'll be with the cat toys Smiley

great idea!! our cats' toys mysteriously disappear after a few days, so i'm always buying new ones. would be much more cost-effective to just buy a fat quarter and make a bunch myself.. Smiley

I looove that- I've made cat toys before and cats don't seem to be interested in them- maybe cat nip is the special ingredient. I'll be making lots of little stockings and ornament shaped ones since my local shelter loves to theme for the holidays.

Great idea both for the stash and the cats...

I'd love to see the pictures from the shelter, if you'd care to share them!
