i went to the mall with a friend two days ago and she wanted to buy a really ugly top, and i said "i could make that.  it would be way easy"  well when i woke up yesterday, i made it!

the picture's really orangey- the shirt is hot pink with white polka dots.   buttons on the side, elastic across the top, and the back opens in a V shape.   i also didn't hem the bottom yet.  but i'm bored, so i'm going to post!

oh geeze, my room is such a total mess!

You should give the shirt to your friend, since she liked it and you thought it was ugly.

::Looks::  My room is a mess.. yours is nowhere close to being a mess.

Okay, how did you do the smocking so it's stretchy?  I've been looking all over for tutorials and only come up with non-stretch decorative smocking.  I really want a shirt in that style!

ok, let me ezplain something before i say anything more.  i made this shirt with a scrap of fabric.  it was a square with two long arms coming off of it.  everything i did with the shirt is because i had no extra fabric to use.

that being said

coccyx-  the smocking is only a rectangle over the chest.  i made the rectangle across the back plain.  so for the chest piece, if you don't  pull the middle of your smocked section as tight it  fits the curve of your chest.    i also didn't smock it all the way to the side seem.  and i also have an elastic band at the top (which helps make anything stretchy)   sorry that this doesn't make any sense!

and lemonade lemonade- i would if i could, but unfortunately, we're not the same size and i don't think she'd like to wear hot pink polka dots Sad   guess i'm doomed to wear a shirt i don't want!  it'll be cute after a few beers at the bar

Ah, thank you, that does make sense.  It's a good quick way to make smocking.  I'll have to try it.
And you may not like looking at the shirt, but from the picture, it does look cute on you.  Cheesy
