I set out to make an inchies dice this afternoon. Since I usually do inchies in sets of six anyway, I figured the 6 sides of a cube would be perfect to make a little novelty dice thingie.

Here are the inchies before I glued them to the wooden cube.

Aaaaand close-ups of each, in case you wanna see:

Thanks for looking, folks Smiley I kinda wanna make a Harry Potter one... I'm sure I could come up with references for each number. That would be pretty cool. Or Mythbusters, since I'm kinda obsessed with them right now. Alright, enough rambling.

I love this! A Harry Potter or Mythbusters (I love both as well) one would kick butt.  I'd love to see it.

Did you buy the cubes as cubes, or did you buy square dowels and cut them yourself?

It was square pine dowel, and cut Smiley

Thanks!  Now that I've seen yours, I have plans to use this method to make some custom (non-numbered) dice as part of a Christmas gift.  (Mine won't look as good as yours, though! lol)

One more question about your dowel - was it 1" or 1-1/4"?  According to the Home Depot website, they have 1-1/4" in-store (but not available to order online), but our store jumped from 1" to 1-3/4" (which is huge!).  Also, Michael's had, in the wood craft section, a bag of 1" cubes.  It's cheaper to buy the dowel and cut it, but if you only need a few and don't want to go to the trouble, they're an option.

I thought 1-1/4" might be better, though, as it would give a tad bit of border around the inchies.

It isn't quite 1 1/4, but I suppose it IS a tad bit bigger than just 1" since there is a tiny border along the edges. I don't think it'd hurt anything to get the 1 1/4"! You can always make your inchies just a teeny bit bigger if they look strange. If they're on a dice, no one will know Smiley
