I told a great friend and fellow IT geek, Debbie, that I was looking to do a wool quilt and had started to check the local thrift stores and the like. She told her Mom about it and her Mom and sister made the rounds out their way and really cleaned up. They were able to get a lot of the wool already cut into squares. Some blankets and coats made the trip this way as well. I evened up the squares and ran some long pieces across the middle and am thrilled with it. The front and back are wool and I used cotton batting.

This is the front. It measures about 66 by 74 inches

The back is made from different blanket pieces

I made Debbie's Mom a Penny rug and small snowman wall hanging. There's enough wool to do at least another quilt. I'll post it when it's done.

Seeking scraps! I'm in need of a variety of white on white scraps. (2.5inch square minimum) for pixel quilts. Have any? Swap for? PM me! Smiley

Not only does this look great but I imagine it is uber-warm and cozy! It's snowing here in Seattle and I would love to have something so nice to cuddle with right now Smiley.

That's fantastic, I love it - How did you quilt it?

I'm glad everyone likes it. It's not as heavy as it looks but is really warm. I used my new Husky Mega Quilter and quilt frame. I had to take it off the frame and spin it around to do the whole thing. I've done five quilts on it since Christmas with this being the biggest one.

Oh, this takes me back to childhood.  My great grandpa had a quilt done in a similar color palette.  Nice!

One question, though.  Did you felt all the pieces before you made the quilt?
