I have always wanted to fold 1,000 cranes. I finally took a little class on folding cranes out of PMC, and finally mastered the crane, so I decided to get some paper and start folding. After a long and freezing winter of hiding from the snow, here are my 1,000 Cranes!

I like how you have chosen to display them.  I don't think I could fold 1000 (or even 10) of these.

Once you "get" it, it's easy! It's the perfect blizzard and a movie craft. I like it for subtitled movies, even, because you don't t have to really stare at them after you have done a bunch, you can look back and forth easily.

This is so cool.  I love the way all of the colors look in that big cylinder.  Movie crafts are my favorite...I like to think I am still doing something productive while being entertained.

This is super awesome! I love the cylinder full of the cranes. It looks so neat. Smiley
Have you ever read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr? It's one of my favorite stories even though its sad.
There's an ancient Japanese story that promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. So what's your wish? lol

Good job Smiley

Awesome job on your cranes.
Isn't it great to be able to do them while watching something on tv.
I'm doing my first 1000 I think I'm around 550. I love what you did with yours. Now I am even more excited about finishing them.

Ooh, exciting! I hope you will post yours when you're done! It's such a relaxing craft, isn't it?
The container is the largest size one from Michael's. With the 40% coupon it was pretty cheap! I also thought about hanging them from something round to make a giant crane mobile/chandelier.

Showed it to my sister who loves origami, her mouth fell open when I told her it was 1000 cranes Tongue They look great, love that you used a glass vase

WOW! So cool. And that story is so sad, I remember reading it in the 4th grade (I think) and I cried.
Was this project inspired by the story?
