I first experimented with this the other day and was happy but not happy enough. I took it down and did a new one. That is the absolute genius of this craft. It is so easy to put up and take down. There is over 150 push pins in this thing. Sorry about the pics,  it was tough getting a good one because of the windows and the snow.

no, the coloured things are actually coloured wicker balls that came with a string of lights. They were too perfect not to put up.

I just came across this somewhere on the internet the other day and I had to check Craftster to see if any other folks out there had tried it.  I think yours looks really neat, and the idea to mix in lights with the thread is bitchin'.  Cheesy 
Can't wait to try it this weekend, hopefully my kitten doesn't try to climb this tree and end up halfway up the wall!  Good job!
