Tadaa! She started life as a Nerf Nitefinder. I took her all apart, primed her up, then spent a week or so painting and detailing and ect. Plastic-friendly primer, and a whole bunch of acrylic paint! Then I buffed it up with some Rub'n'Buff in something like spanish copper - Rub'n'Buff is my new favorite favorite when it comes to steampunking. I will now forever swear by it. It does, however, make a great big hot mess.

Then I took the Amaryllisroze's method of doing rivets - aka puff paint. Genius, I tell you. My hand, maybe not so steady, so they're sort of uneven... but meh. They look good from a distance, so. Then I did a gloss sealer coat over the whole thing, and pieced it all back together. Embellishment to cover that horrible nerf logo... and tada!

The genius at Nerf who designed this model needs to be given an award.  I have seen so many amazing things done with it.  Your mod is one of the best!

Hee... thanks! I was inspired by some of the pretty paintjobs I've seen around teh intarwebz on this model. I did, however, murder the mechanics. It definitely doesn't fire anymore, I took out the whole pull-back mechanism. I was hoping that I kept the electronics in tact so that the laser pointer would still go when you pulled the trigger, but I botched it and it either lights up forever, or not at all. It wouldn't've worked right anyway because I took out the focusing lens. I do keep the batteries in it because I like the weight of it, though.

Oh you finished it!

Brava my dear! You did a great job on it. I really like the medallion you used to cover up the nerf logo. Is it metal?

This makes me want to find my nerf gun and attack it with some paint...

Yuppo, it's a metal washer I smudged up with some rub'n'buff, with a... something. A something I found over in the jewelry department. Then a little pearl, one of those half ones you find in the papercraft section.

DO IT MERLIN!

moving to the toys forum... it's not really a toy so I wasn't sure where to post it at first, but it did start life as a nerf gun which is a toy..

Currently interested in doing a personal swap, I'm thinking retro-look/rockabilly clothing. Let me know if you'd be interested. ^_^
