Sometimes in life we just need a little help to get by...something to believe in and to help us regain hope! In Indian culture, Lord Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles, and bestows upon you wisdom, courage, and confidence to start new enterprises. He removes obstacles and assists people in reaching their goals.

I am in need of some assistance in all these areas, and I also needed some stress-relief, which for me, is always making something. I thought this was a win-win project because sewing relaxes me and the end result would be a good-luck charm in my life endeavors.  Cheesy

I had to take one last writing intensive class when I was still in school, and Hinduism Art History was the only class that I could take that would also fulfill my art history minor. I was dreading the class and had zero interest, initially. Low and behold though, I ended up LOVING it and continued the coursez for the rest of my college career and I still study it on my own time to this day. I found Ganesha to be absolutely fascinating and I love all his legends and everything he represents. I truly find him to be good juju, and I have a small Ganesha Altar. Now I just have a really cute Ganesha to cuddle with!

He is loaded with symbolism, and I included quite a bit even though he is very simplified from most traditional images. Here is a breakdown of what I have on him:

I plan to make him a few accessories that go with him that are apart of his iconography:
Ax- To cut off all bonds of attachment
Rope- To pull you nearer to the highest goal
Felt fruit- Prasada offerings
Mouse- Desire; keeping it under control and do not allow it to take you for a ride. It is the vehicle of Ganesha, or i.e. animal ally.

Hope you all like him! Thanks for looking!

Thank you! Yes, Ganesha, besides being a religious icon, is a spectacular visual art piece as well. I would love to see her house and those Ganesha's!  Grin

Thanks again!
