I wasn't sure where this should go since it is not technically a purse or bag, but this seemed liked the best place. It is a caddy for an iron. It has heat resistant material on the inside and can be used as a portable ironing surface as well as a carrier. It was quick to make and handy to take to sewing retreats/classes.

Just to clarify, this was made from a purchased pattern. I am not very good at making up my own patterns. It was a quick, easy project which is what I like. Thanks!

Love! You did a wonderful job on this! Can I ask the name of the pattern and/or where to buy it?

I have found a few tutorials online for iron caddies but this one is by far the easiest from the looks of it. I'd also be interested in finding out what pattern it was... I keep saying I'm going to make one for going to sewing group and I always forget! You did a fabulous job on it btw.

Thanks for all the positive comments.
The pattern is called Caddy Pad by Sisters' Common Thread. It costs about $16 - $17 and comes with a piece of the heat resistant material.

That's a brilliant concept. I'll be squirreling away the pattern info for future reference. I love the fabric combination you chose, too! It's so cheerful.

That's prety awesome! And I love that it comes with the heat-resistant material. I was wondering where I would find that if I wanted to make one . . .
Great job!

This is so groovy! Did you make up the pattern? It's wonderful, very foldy and smart.

that's really cute, and quite a clever idea. If I ever used my iron I'd make one.

No, I didn't make up the pattern. I don't think I could have ever figured it out. The pattern is called Caddy Pad.

Woo Hoo, I just managed to find this pattern on the 'big' auction site, for $12 with free shipping within USA, but as I live in Australia, I'll either get it sent to my friends house in OH or pay the shipping to me direct!
Thanks for sharing your iron caddy and where the pattern could be purchased....love it love it love it.

Very cool! I don't take my iron anywhere, but i would totally make this if I did. I like the way it looks all folded up for an actual handbag! I wonder how hard it would be to make a pattern for a bag that didn't unflod per se, but looked like this!?

There isn't a tutorial for this project that I know of as it's a commercial pattern that you'll need to purchase, then it will come with instructions. I did see a youtube video that helped with some of the steps but without the actual pattern you'd have to be pretty good and figuring out how to draft this and construct it yourself already.
